Why I Started 🤔

My New Morning Routine 🌅

Instead of phone I started doing this every morning:

Wake up and drink warm water immediately

10 minutes of stretching

5 minutes of deep breathing

Skincare routine mindfully

Eat breakfast without phone

Then check phone after 1 hour

Week 1 — Genuinely Difficult 😰

Reached for my phone automatically every few minutes! Had to physically keep it in another room! Felt anxious wondering what I was missing! Almost gave up on day 3!

I bought a basic alarm clock so my phone could stay in another room overnight! Removing my phone from the bedroom was the single most impactful change I made! Without the phone physically present the temptation was eliminated!

I also created a simple morning basket with everything I needed — journal, book, face wash, water bottle! Having everything ready made the phone free routine feel effortless rather than effortful!

For college students specifically — I found that phone free mornings dramatically improved my academic performance! The calm focused state I arrived at college in translated directly to better concentration, better notes and better exam performance!
