Eyelashes grow in three phases — anagen (active growth), catagen (transition) and telogen (resting before falling)! Each individual lash is at a different phase at any given time!
The anagen phase for eyelashes lasts only 30-45 days — significantly shorter than scalp hair! This means lashes have a much shorter maximum growth period than head hair!
Products that stimulate lash growth must be applied consistently during anagen phase — inconsistent application misses many lashes that are in their only growth window!
This is why consistency for minimum 6-8 weeks is essential for any lash treatment — you need to support multiple complete growth cycles!
The ₹40 Ingredient — Castor Oil 🌿
Castor oil costs approximately ₹40-80 for a bottle at any medical shop in India and has more legitimate research support for hair and lash growth than most expensive serums!
The mechanism — ricinoleic acid in castor oil inhibits prostaglandin D2 — a compound that shortens the hair growth phase! By inhibiting this compound castor oil extends the anagen phase allowing each lash to grow for longer before entering the resting phase!
Additionally castor oil's thick viscosity coats each lash shaft providing conditioning that reduces breakage — keeping existing lashes healthier and longer!
My Exact Application Method:
The application tool matters enormously! I cleaned an old mascara wand thoroughly — washing with dish soap and hot water three times! This becomes the perfect application tool for castor oil to lashes!
Every night without exception — after all other skincare was complete and I was ready to sleep — I dipped the clean mascara wand into castor oil and applied to upper and lower lashes exactly as I would apply mascara! Coating each lash from root to tip!
Critical — apply to the lash line as well as the lashes themselves! The follicle stimulation from root application is where growth benefits originate!
Amount — thin coat only! Excess castor oil on lashes before sleeping transfers to undereye area causing puffiness! Thin application absorbs before becoming problematic!
Week By Week Results:
Week 1 and 2 — no visible growth yet! This is biologically expected and where most people give up! Lash growth takes 3-4 weeks to become visible even when follicles are actively stimulated!
